Turning Agricultural Waste into Opportunity: The Journey of Coconut Fiber Innovation

What if every discarded coconut husk could create jobs, income, and environmental value?

🌱 From Agricultural Waste to Sustainable Opportunity

Every month, thousands of tons of coconut husks are discarded across coconut-growing regions. For many people, they are simply agricultural waste. For us at Keico, they represent untapped potential.

Today, we transform 100–200 tons of discarded coconut husks each month into natural netting and other sustainable materials that serve global markets. What was once considered waste is now part of a circular value chain that creates environmental, social, and economic impact.

Beyond the products themselves, this work supports 35–40 local workers, with approximately 70% being women. Through coconut fiber production, communities gain access to stable income opportunities while preserving traditional skills and contributing to a more sustainable future.

However, we believe this is only the beginning.

The next stage of development lies in improving fiber quality, processing technologies, and product innovation. With better technical expertise and investment, coconut fiber can be transformed into higher-value applications across landscaping, erosion control, horticulture, construction, and sustainable manufacturing.

Our vision is simple:
Turn more agricultural waste into valuable materials, create more jobs in rural communities, and expand the role of natural fibers in the global transition toward sustainability.

We know there is still much work ahead, but every ton of coconut husk transformed is proof that circular economy solutions can generate real impact for both people and the planet.

We are always interested in connecting with partners, researchers, buyers, investors, and organizations working in sustainable materials, circular economy, climate innovation, and social impact.

Let’s explore how we can create greater value from natural resources together.
